Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your health care will cost.

Under federal law, health care providers are generally required to provide clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance to pay for services with an estimate of the expected cost of their care.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the expected cost of non-emergency health care services.

• If you schedule services at least 3 business days in advance, you are generally entitled to receive a Good Faith Estimate before receiving those services. You may also request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services.

• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate from a provider or facility, you may be able to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.

• Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate so you can compare it with any bills you receive.
